Lubricants have been appointed Greenchem's Irish Distributors
for Ad Blue Solutions, a product destined to become
as ubiquitous as Diesel Fuel itself in the very near
future.
AdBlue is the DIN 70 070 quality standard reagent to be
used in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)
systems on Diesel fuelled HGVs to reduce the level of
emissions from the engine of the vehicle. The noteworthy
emissions are the harmful Nitrous Oxides (NOx).
GreenChem released the registered trade name “AdBlue” over to the truck and bus industry and the name is now synonomous with the product in general terms.
AdBlue is a very pure urea solution that can only be used on trucks and buses fitted with SCR technology.

EU Legislation - namely Euro
4 and Euro 5 are the drivers
behind the need for such a product. After intensive
investigation of suitable solutions, Ad Blue was chosen
by ACEA and the major HGV and Bus manufacturers
in Europe.
Euro 5 standards - become effective from 2009.09 for new type approvals, and from 2011.01 for all models.
Deadlines for legislation
compliance are as follows:
- Euro 4 - effective since October 2005
- Euro 5 - 2009
The technology that uses AdBlue will give a fuel saving of upt to 4% on average, more than
the cost of recovering AdBlue spend. Maxol
Lubricants can deliver AdBlue along with the specialist
equipment necessary to store and dispense the product.
Smallpack - Jerrycans containing 5, 10 or 18 litres
